Free Services - Energy
Are you aware of the many free services available to help you with energy bills?
Find out what grants, discounts, free energy help and assistance you're entitled to, based on your personal circumstances. Use the link to the right to find out if you qualify for help. You may be entitled to much more help and assistance than you realise, such as
- help with paying energy bills, household bills including debts
- free advice on making homes more energy efficient
- financial support from government
In addition, if you are of pensionable age; have a disability; have a hearing and/or visual impairment; or have long-term ill-health you automatically qualify for the following free services:
- Password Protection Scheme.
- Accessing Prepayment meters - free relocation of meter.
- Quarterly Meter Readings - no more estimated bills.
- Bill Nominee Scheme.
- Advance notice of interruptions to supply.
- Alternative formats (braille, large print, audio tape, textphone, typetalk) for bills.
To register for these free services, all you need to do is ask your gas or electricity supplier. You can find their telephone number on your latest bill. If you are unsure about doing this, you may wish to ask a friend to speak to the supplier on your behalf – either way your suppliers are obliged by law to help you.
