Poole Housing Partnership has been recognised as being one of the best employers in the country. In a national Sunday Times' survey of employers, PHP has got into the Top 100.

PHP employs 97 staff to manage Poole's 5,200 council homes. Staff filled in a confidential questionnaire which tests how they feel about the organisation and their role within it.

The results revealed staff felt really positive about the organisation, and really positive about the importance of the services they are providing. 69% of the staff thought PHP does a lot for the community and 79% said it made a positive difference to the world. Overall, the results were all high, indicating a cohesive workforce with a clear sense of purpose.

The award demonstrates an organisation's commitment to supporting the day-to-day working lives of its workforce. It takes the responses from staff and measures them against the following eight critical factors in workforce engagement:

  • Leadership
  • My Manager
  • Personal Growth
  • Well Being
  • My Team
  • Giving Something Back
  • My company
  • Fair Deal

Each organisation that enters (in 2008/2009 there were 795) is given a Best Companies index score, which then determines the Star Rating. PHP were rated as  'outstanding', which is a fantastic result for the first time of entering.

Chief Executive, Joe Logan, said "we have fantastic staff who are really committed to delivering the best-possible services. To enable them to do this, we empower them to get on and deliver excellent services. This survey shows that the staff enjoy working in this culture and understand the importance of that work to the residents of Poole"
