Asbestos Reinspections: Keeping You Safe

PHP are reinspecting all homes that have previously been surveyed for asbestos. Surveys will be done by PHP's asbestos contractor, Ethos Environmental, and are due to start in April 2009.

Stock Condition Surveyor, Caroline Alexander, says, "We need to check whether any asbestos that we've found before has deteriorated, as it may need to be removed.

"To do the survey, we will need to gain entry to your home, but it'll only take a few minutes. It's just a simple visual check to compare the current condition with what we have on record. We don't need to take samples this time."

"We are reinspecting asbestos to help keep residents and our contractors safe, so we know if any asbestos is now damaged and needs to be removed."

These surveys are important to keep you, your family and our workmen safe.

The main law governing asbestos, The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006, is expected to be amended in March to fully include social housing. The Duty To Manage Asbestos includes a Duty To Reinspect Asbestos on a 6 or 12 monthly basis, depending on the type of asbestos.
