FREE Stuff To Save Money, Save Energy!

Find out you can claim your free PowerDown unit and Energy Saving Light bulbs!

PowerDown

Did you know that leaving electrical appliances switched 'on' or on 'standby' costs over £740 million and creates over four million tonnes of excess carbon dioxide emissions every year?

By switching off TVs, computers, DVD players and stereos you save money and energy. PHP are working to help you do this. We have a supply of E.ON PowerDown units and energy saving light bulbs, available free to PHP residents.

If you have a computer, a PowerDown can help you save money and energy. It plugs into your computer's power lead and makes sure that all the peripherals, such as a modem, printer and scanner, etc turn off too. When you turn your PC on it will automatically power them all back on.

The annual saving by using a PowerDown is over £16*, so its payback period is under half a year. By using a PowerDown you will save 1.76kWh of electricity annually and reduce your CO2 emissions by 0.75kg.

The PowerDown units have been kindly supplied free of charge by energy supplier E.ON for use by PHP residents who have a computer, monitor, printer, scanner etc.

We are also fitting them to the computers we've installed at Sheltered Housing Schemes across the town.

PHP resident Ray Aggett, says, "I think that power-down devices like the E-ON Powerdown offer an easy, non technical and cost efficient way to ensure our computers and peripherals are shutdown when not in use.

"This saves power and money, helping to protect our the environment and our wallets! Exchanging the units for email addresses is a brilliant idea."
