Housing Officers at Poole Housing Partnership.
We have a dedicated team of Housing Officers, led by the Senior Housing Officer, to deliver a comprehensive estate management service. Their job is to support the development of strong and sustainable communities on housing estates, encouraging active resident participation, estates planning, making the environment better and ensuring all sections of the community are encouraged to be involved.
Working with our caretakers, tenants, contractors and other agencies, they make sure the estates are clean and tidy and everyone's tenancy obligations are fulfilled.
This includes working with the community to develop Neighbourhood Agreements and tackle any anti-social behaviour should it crop up, and they work to agreed service standards with residents.
Housing Officers undertake regular estate inspections called Environmental Visual Audits, involving tenant representatives, councillors and Safer Neighbourhood Teams. They also have access to small budgets for estate improvement works that residents can apply for.
Housing Officers help with tenancy queries. They deal with changes to Tenancy Agreements and moving home queries, and carry out home visits to meet both new and long-standing tenants. These meetings are valuable for many reasons: to monitor satisfaction with services, see if more support is needed and also check that tenants are complying with their responsibilities too.
Working with the Borough of Poole's Housing and Community Services Unit the team also manage several hostels providing temporary accommodation for young families who have found themselves homeless and are waiting for a permanent home either through PHP or a local Registered Social Landlord (RSL).
To ensure there is always support available the team operates a duty rota. You can also contact the Housing Officers, see the contact details on the right of this page.
The role of the Housing Officers is very busy and they have to be ready to deal with all sorts of situations. They do this with a smile and an ability to get things done to make things better for residents. This is best done working in partnership with residents themselves.
