What are adaptations?

Adaptations are alterations we can make to your home to help make your everyday tasks easier and enable you to be as independent as possible.

Some adaptations are relatively major, e.g. installing a stair-lift or a shower; others are relatively minor, e.g. putting in a grab rail near the bath or special taps in the washbasin.

Some examples of the adaptations that PHP do are...

Adult Social Services, or the Child Health and Disability Team, might also be able to install certain equipment (such as a bath lift) to help you undertake basic living tasks, see the link to the Borough of Poole website on the right of this page.

How do I qualify for an adaptation?

You MUST be council tenant or a member of a council tenant's household.

You must also be eligible for registration as a disabled person, or have a disabled child, and be assessed as needing the adaptation to access the home, to ensure safety in the home or to be able to access essential facilities in the home.
