Resident Involvement- How You Can Get Involved
There are number of ways you can be involved in our services or your local community
There are many ways to get involved with us. We've previously put up a list, but to help you find a way of being involved that suits you, we've broken the list into five categories. These indicate the type of involvement and also the level of commitment it will require.
If you are interested in looking at the different issues you can be involved in, the easiest way is to browse the Your PHP leaflet.
If any of the following interest you, please follow the tabs to the left for further information.
Informing you
A passive level of involvement, informing you is key to helping you know what interests you, when you want to have a say and what will affect you. This takes very little time, and you're probably doing it already! The key methods are through the At Home magazine and by this website.
If you want to take it a little further, or ask for information to be clarified, you can either write to At Home or contact us through email or the website's feedback form.
Consulting with you
Consulting means bringing a complete or partially complete document, project or service plan to you and asking for comments, compliments and criticism to improve it. It also includes surveys and one-off focus groups.
This doesn't generally take a lot of time, because it tends to be small amounts of time from the home (surveys) or one-off meetings with us. We're committed to telling you what we changed as a result.
Involving you
This takes a little more time, as we'll be getting you to help us improve services. It might involve testing our services (by phoning us and noting the result, or monitoring the quality of the cleaning contract) or it might be giving us feedback on particular issues through our working parties.
As a result, there will be more of a time-commitment, and you'll get to know more about our inner workings, but most of the activities can still be done from your home.
Engaging with you
The key feature to this level is a commitment to meeting with us, discussing various aspects of our services and getting involved with improving them. We'll help you develop your understanding of various areas, perhaps through training, so you can challenge us effectively. This level also includes representing other tenants, either directly or indirectly.
Decision-making
The ultimate in involvement. A significant time commitment, but also the most control over services. The very peak of involvement is being elected to the Board, directing the future of PHP. Below the Board, the Housing Strategy Panel gives residents a further powerful say in how we work.
